Moving from CAPEX to OPEX

Installing and maintaining an on-premise PBX network represents a significant capital expense (CAPEX), not only for the initial hardware purchase but for ongoing software upgrades.

Organisations planning a major overhaul of their telecommunications infrastructure or setting up facilities at a Greenfield site should carefully consider a CaaS (Communications as a Service) solution as an alternative approach to an on-premise solution.

CaaS avoids CAPEX and moves the responsibility for providing and maintaining your communications services onto your chosen service provider for a monthly service charge or operating expense (OPEX). Services can be readily scaled up or down to meet your requirements and you only pay for what you need. Upgrades and maintenance charges are all included within the monthly charge.

Benefits of Communications as a Service

Budget restraints, limited IT expertise, and unwillingness to undertake large capital expenditures are all drivers for Communications as a Service.

Allowing customers to pay per-user-per-month or per-application-per-month for full lifecycle support enables them to deploy advanced Unified Communications, IVR and Contact Centre solutions quickly and affordably.

One of the biggest issues with CaaS is that the market is still in its early stages, and most providers have not rolled out a full portfolio, TeleWare has been providing hosted communications services since 1997 and offers a feature rich communications portfolio with all the applications available to on-premise customer also available under the hosted service model. Forrester analyst Elizabeth Herrell says “we recommend that infrastructure and operations executives consider CaaS's role in their infrastructure plans."
