TeleWare first provided hosted communications in 1997. Today, under the Hosted Communications brand, TeleWare delivers services from three data centres with interconnects to multiple network providers and support for tens of thousands of business users.
Application Services
The original Hosted Communications offering was feature-rich telephony applications for TDM-based customers; these applications are mainly provided across the BT Featurenet network. Hosted Communications platforms in Docklands, Heathrow and Thirsk currently provide application services over existing TDM networks and switches as well as IP Centrex services and applications over IP networks.
IP Centrex Services
IP Centrex services have been available since 2005 run from TeleWare’s own IP Soft switch and interfacing seamlessly to the full range of TeleWare applications. This development means that customers can have common applications services delivered over both new IP Centrex connections and their existing legacy PBX connections. The combination of the TeleWare feature rich applications and the Hosted Communications scalable and reliable platform means that features available on a conventional switch can be provided in a pure IP environment.
SIP Trunking
In 2007, TeleWare launched SIP Trunking under the Hosted Communications brand. Use of SIP Trunking with the TeleWare IP Centrex hosted services is especially efficient, because the call is delivered end-to-end over an IP interconnect, avoiding having to use TDM to IP or PSTN to IP gateways. Using SIP Trunking to connect to the TeleWare platform means that customers can deploy IP telephony applications on their existing architecture and so the payback for switching to hosted IP applications can occur in as little as 3-12 months.
